Blackwood, as a herd is a dangerous, violent, and unforgiving place year round. With the turning of the leaves and the beginning of the rut the stags become restless and impatient; the woods are safe for no doe or stag regardless of herd or rank. With mild contempt for the foolhardy displays, Bodhrán stuck close to the shadows, watching the does and stags carefully. The silver grullo preferred the finer art of seduction, rarely did he fight for a doe and never would he return to one for a second season.
This year, he had found a particularly attractive doe, albeit one he was initially un-attracted to.
